Charcoal Drawings

I use mostly charcoal pencils and sticks. I also use charcoal powder and water effects.

My charcoal drawings are mainly portraits but also bodies.

All drawings are on good quality acid free paper.

I use mostly Cartridge 120 gsm for dry drawings or Dailer Rowney Fine Grain – Heavyweight 200gsm if I'm using water effects.

All charcoal drawings are sprayed with a fixative as a final touch to protect the drawing from smudges or fading overtime. This also makes them safer to handle when framing but you should always be careful not to touch the drawing anyway and wear latex (or latex-free) surgical gloves prior to handle the drawing if possible so you don't leave any marks on the paper.
